We encourage local businesses, industry and community members to consider making a submission to this review that will support future operations of the Murray Darling Basin. Submissions close 1 May.

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority is currently inviting feedback as part of the Basin Plan Review process for the post‑2026 Basin Plan.

This review will help inform future water management settings across the Basin, and there is an opportunity for individuals, businesses and organisations to have their views considered.

Greater Shepparton City Council strongly encourages participation in this consultation process.

Decisions concerning water management under the Basin Plan have a direct and long‑term impact on the future of our region, including local businesses, employment and the broader economy. Ensuring regional perspectives are clearly expressed through submissions is an important way for the community to contribute to decisions that affect Greater Shepparton’s ongoing sustainability and prosperity.

Submissions can be lodged directly with the Murray–Darling Basin Authority by email at BPRsubmissions@mdba.gov.au

For those wishing to engage in more detail, the Victorian Farmers Federation has also published a full submission and a range of supporting fact sheets, which are available at: https://vff.org.au/murray-darling-basin-plan/

Further information about the Basin Plan Review and how to make a submission is available on the MDBA website: https://getinvolved.mdba.gov.au/2026basinplanreview
